This morning I got a call from a nurse with my insurance. It was...strange but appreciated. However, it gave me a few more things to worry about. "I see you delivered your first early. What happened there?" I told her what happened- I woke up, water broke, delivered Z within a few hours- and she seemed satisfied with that. "Well, boys don't have as good of a chance when they're born as early as she was." Excuse me? This was followed by a string of questions. "Have you been seen by the high risk doctors?" "Have they been using a probe to check your cervix?" "Have they given you any medication to mature his lungs more quickly?" My doctors haven't mentioned any of those things. When I asked them at my last appointment if I should be concerned about this baby coming early they just kind of shrugged and said "we'll monitor you as you get closer". I know she wasn't trying to scare me. She was just doing her job, letting me know what I may need as this pregnancy progresses. In one phone call she was more helpful to me than all the doctors in all my visits combined.
Weekly update time? WEEKLY UPDATE TIME!
How far along?
30 weeks! I'm starting to get all my things together in case I go into labor while Daniel is away for drill in September. Not letting anything catch me off guard this time!
Maternity clothes?
Do I really have to wear clothes at all? It's too stinkin' hot!
Stretch marks?
Pretty definite boob stretch mark deepening.
Sleep?
I could sleep for days, but I don't really appreciate waking up in a puddle of sweat.
Best moment this week?
THE CRIB IS TOGETHER! WOO HOO!
Food cravings:
Back on a sweets kick- Milky Way, Butterfinger, chocolate pudding, cheesecake....
Belly button in or out?
It kind of looks like a funny pouty mouth.
Movement?
He's killing me. I think he's actually trying to head-butt his way out of me.
What I miss?
Not constantly being sore and tired.
What I’m looking forward to:
Daniel's beer and diaper shower is this Saturday! Excited to have some guys get together to celebrate my sweet husband.
Milestones:
Big news for baby's brain this week: It's starting to wrinkle and fold and looks like something that grew in the back of your fridge. This is due to the rapid growth of your little genius's brain cells." Fingernails and toenails are fully cooked! Connor is also shedding his stylish fur coat.
